The lack of accessibility to the control panels of the air conditioning units forced workers to get creative in finding ways to reach them. This situation not only increased the complexity of the task but also heightened the risk of injury due to the makeshift solutions needed to access the units. The lack of available workspace around the units was another overlooked aspect. Measures needed to be taken to improve access and ensure the safety of the workers.
A Custom Solution for This Situation
A request was made to our team to improve access for workers. The goal was to provide safe and stable working surfaces and access points, thereby ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. It was necessary to provide platforms tailored to the roof environment of the school, to meet the specific needs of the site and ensure optimal performance.
The project began with a detailed on-site analysis conducted by our engineering team to thoroughly understand the environment where the platforms would be installed. The objective was to provide four secure access points and working environments for workers needing to reach the control panels of the air conditioning units. The platforms had to be safe and comply with current standards. Each structure was specially designed to ensure stability and compliance.
Every element of the platforms was customized. The flat surfaces of the platforms are made from perforated aluminum panels, allowing optimal water drainage while ensuring maximum grip. The structures are composed of our anodized aluminum tubes and were designed by our engineering team to ensure their stability and adherence to current standards. Some platforms required modifications to the support points, as the base of the unit prevented the rear legs from touching the ground directly. We adapted the structure by placing these legs directly on the air conditioning unit’s structure using connectors that also serve as non-slip pads. To ensure maximum safety for the workers, the platforms were also equipped with Delta Prevention guardrails to prevent any worker from falling while performing their tasks. The final stage of this project was the installation, which was expertly carried out by the Solutions Prox-Secur team.
