The Quebec Heart and Lung Institute has undertaken a comprehensive roof safety project, ensuring the safety of its workers. This ambitious project covered five distinct areas, totalling nearly 800 linear feet of installed guardrails. By prioritizing the health and safety of their patients, the institute also extended this attention to the workers who move around the roof daily, ensuring a secure and reliable work environment.
Adjustment According to Roof Elevation
The roof structure, which was not entirely flat, required custom solutions to ensure safety and compliance with standards. The vertical posts were adjusted using specific connectors to maintain the guardrail system level. These connectors, added to the base of the posts, effectively levelled the guardrails. This installation, carried out by our partners at SHQ Solutions, perfectly illustrates the ability of Delta Prevention’s extensive product range to offer customized solutions that meet the specific needs of each client.
Limited Space in Certain Areas
Certain areas of the roof had space limitations, necessitating the use of compact and efficient solutions. The VSS Compact system proved perfect for these restricted spaces, with its bases placed directly under the posts. This highlights the importance of contacting our experts for your projects, as we can help and provide a suitable solution regardless of the available space.
Different Overlapping Levels to Secure
As seen in the photo gallery, several overlapping levels required guardrail customization to match the different heights and distances while maintaining system integrity. This primarily involved raising the two horizontal posts to align with the highest structure using a taller-than-usual vertical post. These customizations, carried out daily by our experts, ensure a perfect adaptation to the specific needs of this client.
Conclusion
This project resulted from a magnificent team effort between the distributor SHQ Solutions and the Delta Prevention team. Thanks to this exemplary collaboration, the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute now has a fully secured roof. They can thus focus on their mission of helping patients with peace of mind, without having to worry about the safety of the workers moving around on their roof.
